Finally making their first Premier League appearance of 2022, Leicester will welcome Tottenham to the King Power Stadium on Wednesday night.
Leicester City
Starting with the hosts, while Leicester might have extended their FA Cup adventure with a 4-1 win against Watford earlier in the month, the Foxes are yet to make a single Premier League appearance since opening the New Year. However, last seen on top-flight duties picking up an eye-catching 1-0 victory against Liverpool on home soil, Brendan Rodgers men will be desperate to keep up that momentum here. With the one-time Swansea boss making it clear that he is calling on his side to find some stability in 2022, Leicester should at least be boosted by their continued success on home soil. With their sights set on securing another European finish this season, it should be noted that Wednesday s hosts have won each of their last five straight matchups at the King Power across all formats. With playmaker James Maddison bagging four goals in his last five outings, Rodgers will be confident of laying down a marker here.
Team News
Dealing with a real injury crisis, the likes of Wesley Fofana, Jonny Evans, Ricardo Pereira, Ryan Bertrand and Jamie Vardy will not feature here.
Likewise, Wilfred Ndidi, Daniel Amartey, Nampalys Mendy and Kelechi Iheanacho will also be missing as they re away at this year s AFCON.
Tottenham
As for the visitors, while Tottenham fans might have been hugely excited when Antonio Conte walked through the doors back in November, Spurs are struggling to find much stability. With Sunday s north London derby getting controversially scrapped, the former Inter Milan boss has seen his side win just one of their last four matchups against Premier League opposition. Crashing out of the EFL Cup last week after suffering a 3-0 aggregate loss against rivals Chelsea, the Lilywhites still appear in an uphill battle to secure a Champions League return this season. Just about coming past League One strugglers Morecambe on FA Cup duties earlier in the month, it is fair to say that Conte has been far from pleased by his side s recent displays. Showing some extended problems outside of north London, it should also be noted that a 1-0 win against Watford on New Year s Day is Spurs sole victory from any of their last five away fixtures.
Team News
Tottenham are sweating over the fitness of both defenders Eric Dier and Cristian Romero when they make the trip to Leicester on Wednesday night.
Likewise, still dealing with an injury issue, attacking talisman Son Heung-min will certainly miss out at the King Power.
